The Kauai Beach Guardians are an all volunteer organization of residents trained in CPR, First Aid and basic water rescues to be ready to help in a drowning emergency. The Beach Guardians concept was implemented by John Tyler, a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor for many years, after he heard about and subsequently met with the New Zealand Surf Lifesaving management. SLS-NZ 6,000 volunteer members are a model for our 85 charter members of the Beach Guardians.
